beantown baby
Beantown Baby Diaper Bank is a Boston-area nonprofit, founded by Rachel Segaloff in 2018. Beantown Baby’s mission: To reduce diaper need in Greater Boston while raising awareness of how diaper scarcity perpetuates poverty. While the organization is doing great things, its digital presence is not.
The challenge: create a cohesive, organized, and user-friendly site that educates, encourages donations, and makes the donation process seamless. By reducing friction points and streamlining user journeys, the proposed redesign offers improvements to both form and function.

Research & Insight
In-depth stakeholder interviews with Beantown’s founder proved to be extremely fruitful. We mapped these data points into a Lean UX Canvas, and that helped to lay the foundation for our overall direction. From there, we created user personas with corresponding story maps to visualize our user journeys. We discovered that these two segments visit the site for different purposes, and any solution needs to function for both use cases.

With a good sense of what each distinct persona was trying to accomplish, we were able to divide most journeys into two buckets. This drove our information architecture decisions, and the site was restructured with these goals in mind. As we started to flesh out the structure of the site, I simultaneously began a rebrand exploration.
